Bold and Challenging Interpretations
Moving and Thought Provoking Theatrical Experiences
Nurturing New Talent

Founded by theatre lovers for the local community in 1969, Epicentre Theatre Company has grown to become one of Sydney’s leading non-professional theatre companies.

The company selects plays that are challenging to perform and stimulating to view. Through bold and fresh translations from page to stage, Epicentre has continued its tradition of encouraging theatre lovers to appreciate, enjoy and be challenged by our productions.

Each yearly season includes three productions at the Zenith Theatre and one under the stars at Castlecrag Amphitheatre – from children’s classics to gritty drama -  a varied season for all audiences. Our productions cover a diverse spectrum of theatricality.

Epicentre frequently stages classic texts with bold new interpretations, challenging the audience in the presentation of classic and modern classic playwrights such as Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, and Tennessee Williams. We often choose texts from the schools curriculum, giving students the opportunity to view the plays they are studying. We encourage the production of Australian Drama, featuring writers such as Nick Enright and Louis Nowra. We stage new adaptations from around the world and always seeks to be at the forefront of theatrical innovation.
